Touching the Despair -from 2011

Piecing together a spirituality, a diet, a lifestyle, a rhythm from the many fragmented shards left lying around. Stepping gingerly at times through the judgments, the resentments, the splintered ideas of right, wrong, good, bad, each are ways we have learned to cope with life over the years, to build up walls, form groups with likeminded souls to feel a sense of community.

Finding unity within all this is both impossible and inevitable. So far away and yet already there.

The half light of our cities is neither wholly dark nor wholly light. Kept in limbo where the terrors and depths of the black, the place from where wisdom comes are denied us, just as the delights of the sun in the daytime are periphery when we run about trying to fill our obligations, duties. Like little soldiers scurrying and not pausing to bask or receive lifegiving energy from our sun.

In order to operate within tightly restrictive jobs, we can medicate ourselves with anti-depressant cocktails, another form of limbo for the mind to keep each soul from experiencing the depths of despair our culture has reached.

Having touched this despair, I now turn to resume my gathering together, taking what's useful for the journey ahead, seeking translation of my unique soul note into the currency of the day.
