Time to Connect - from 2008

So I make these connections with others during my days, but what of my friendships? I find that many of my peers are faced with much of the same concerns as I with major childcare responsibilities, demands to be here or there, at specific times or the opposite, as daunting, where a day can stretch forwards with no appointments to punctuate.

And so at this point in an evening when I stop, the clearing up may have been done, it may not, and one wholehearted way that I've found to feel real touches with my friends is to imagine them, send love, clear our pathway with white light, renew my intention and commitment to friendship.

This is a fabulous tool during the day too if a phonecall is abruptly halted by a sudden need for one of us to go, or if, through tiredness, I worry that I haven't been fair or respectful in my speech. The process of rewinding and rewriting my reply in my head helps me to keep mindful. Sending a hug either by creating the picture in my mind's eye or sensing the contact as a hug helps smooth out any unintentional wobblyness.

Keeping open these connections feels a basic necessity to not losing the plot completely. Acknowledging that others have their full full lives can sometimes heighten my feelings of isolation but its the reality of now and I trust that by continuing to reach out, we are increasing the chances of building solid bridges of trust, light and honesty the foundations for the new world as the old ways crumble. Yes it is all so hard now, so much fragmentation that we can feel pitted against each other.

So throw out that crystal encrusted lifeline and weave a web of protection by standing firm with friends and allies. Share, share, share - if words can not do it then energetically spin those lines with clarity gently touching hearts or heads or roots as feels appropriate.
