The author introduces our Goblin as being in charge of keeping us separated from our authentic self. She likens it to a tired and cranky child in the back seat of the car whilst we are needing to focus on driving. Our doubts, insecurities, fear based commentaries, playing like a radio station, preventing us from comfortably continuing our journey. To tune out, we can hear and soothe the negative stream, just as we would our much-loved child, so that it can doze and quieten down.
Getting to know our Goblin helps us to recognise the pull that it has on us when we are choosing to live a more open and free life.
(I just tried this after writing my Ode to Gluten, follow this link to see)
- Relax totally, take long, deep breaths and centre yourself, play relaxing, meditative music if this helps.
- Imagine that you're alone in the audience at a theatre and looking up at a stage flanked by heavy curtains. Behind these, is your Goblin.
- Ask your Goblin to appear as whatever character it chooses to represent your current feelings.
- Invite the Goblin to tell you whats on its mind - let it know that you'll listen to all it has to say. (don't interrupt!)
- Approach the Goblin and ask what it needs from you, reassurring it that you're committed to loving it and looking after it. Thank it for sharing.
- Take a baby blanket and wrap it around the little Goblin. Hold the creature close to your heart, and tell it that with love there's no fear.
- Bring the white light of all the love in the universe through you and into the sleepy Goblin, and experience how you feel as this creature is absorbed into your being, filled with love and peace.
- Who's talking to the Goblin? Which part of you is expressing itself as nurturer? How does it feel to be choosing to look through the eyes of your authentic self?
- Be aware that you aren't your Goblin's feelings. The Goblin doesn't limit you except by the perception that it imposes on you.
I love it! Thanks for sharing, beautiful x
ReplyDeleteI like that it easily separates & identifies different aspects of the self, creating a dialogue from a centred and more autonomous viewpoint than the internal spiralling which can become so muddlesome at times. I will be trying this out really soon. Love as always x
yey, glad you like it, good to have different techniques to access these things isn't it xx
